The studio
We’re a studio,
not a startup.
Octane Innovations is a small, independent software studio (we go by Octane). We organise our year around shipping a handful of products well, rather than one product loudly.
Some of our products are open source because the people who use them deserve to see how their data is handled. Others are commercial — running a studio costs money. Both kinds of work feed each other.

Quality over velocity. We invest the time a product needs to be reliable, well-designed, and genuinely useful — rather than optimising for ship-date or growth metrics alone.

Clarity in product and language. Our interfaces, documentation, and decisions are written to be understood without prior context. Plain language is a discipline, not an afterthought.

Open by intent. We open-source projects where transparency benefits the people who use them. Decisions to keep work proprietary are made deliberately, and we’re explicit about why.
